Lazy Days of Summer Challenge #2- Summer Ombre

Oh man do I both love and despise having to do an ombre. First, I love it because it's easy and it's fun and looks super cute when you're done. Second, I dislike them because I need to seriously dig through my polish stash and find enough polishes with which to accomplish a halfway decent ombre. In my last challenge, I did a blue one, seen HERE. I was pretty sure blue was the only color I had enough of in my collection to do this type of manicure and was relieved when that challenge was over.
Enter in the Lazy Days of Summer Challenge....Summer Ombre? Oh poo! "How will I ever do this?" I thought to myself. "I don't have enough of a variety in my polishes to do another one!"

Well, I was wrong. I was very wrong. I do have enough! I was able to pull off a bright neon pinkishness one!

So, I like it. I think I should have rearranged the polish order a bit, but oh well! This is just proof that I really need to swatch my bottles!
Thumb- China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy
Index- Color Club Poptastic
Middle- Color Club Warhol
Ring- China Glaze Strawberry Fields
Pinkie- Essence Ultimate Pink

New Challege! The Lazy Days of Summer #1- Beach Themed

I knew I wanted to join up with this challenge as soon as there was talk of it in our Facebook group. The same ladies, as well as some new ones, teamed up to do a Summer themed challenge! Woo!

How fun does that all sound?! I was planning on starting the same time as everyone else, but they increased my hours at work, and my grad summer classes all had these crazy big assignments due at the same time! THEN I got sick! I'm feeling slightly better, but man- a cold in the summer is just horrible. I have a presentation in class tonight and my voice is virtually non-existent!
Anyway, I wanted to make myself feel better, and something that always makes me happy is the beach. I love the sound of the waves, the feel of the air, the breeze....sighhhhh.

Anyway, I sucked it up and began the challenge!

For the beach theme, I went with what I think of first when I hear the word "beach"- water, sand, and sparkle. There's just something about the way everything at the beach just glistens in the sunshine! I tried to reproduce it on my nails. I began with 2 coats of Nubar Blue Hydrangea, then went and did the tips in uneven strokes with China Glaze Fast Track. Then, on Blue Hydrangea only, I used Rainbow Honey Celestia (holy crap, this polish is amazing. I'll be doing a post on it in the near future!), and then went back in and applied a bit of All That Glitters Jean Genie. I finished the whole thing off with some Seche Vite. Have a look:

Not exactly what I had in mind, but it works just fine.

Elixir Lacquers- With a K

I love this polish! Oh. my. goodness! To me, it doesn't match the picture on the Elixir Lacquers website, nor does it really match the description, but it's completely alright because it's gorgeous!
The description from Elixir Lacquers website says:
"Silver and electric violet holographic micro glitter with violet prismatic hexagon glitter, suspended in a violet jelly base."

To me, on my nail, in the bottle, and in the pictures below, this polish is pink. Not purple, not violet. Maybe it might lean toward a mauve, but it's more in the pink family than anything else. There is scattered holographic glitter throughout which adds this amazing sparkle to the polish. Then, there are bigger chunks of holographic glitter. I can't decide if these chunks are hex or more of a shredded glitter. Maybe more of a mix of both? Eh, it's amazing. I'll stop rambling. These pictures are 3 coats With a K with one coat Seche Vite.

I love the sparkle of this polish in the sunlight! My absolute favorite part of this polish, though, would be the larger chunks of glitter. That really makes for an interesting mix!

Ocean Potion and Sprouse

Today, I have two amazing polishes for you to see! I decided they needed to be layered and I adore the results! First up, I applied two coats of Enchanted Polish Ocean Potion and stepped out into the sunshine and let my fingers glow!

I just love the random glitter piece I have on my middle finger up there ^.

Such a gorgeous polish!! But you know me, I need more! So I grabbed my trusty Candeo Colors Sprouse....as an aside, things were very amiss with my bottle of Sprouse. I used it one other time HERE...but when I grabbed it today, so much of it was gone!! It was like the clear base evaporated or something...and when I pulled out the brush, it was all shriveled and gross. I shook it all, thinking that might help- it sort of did, but the formula was definitely not the same. I sent Candeo Colors a message about this so we'll see what happens. It was so sad! I LOVE this polish! Yet, I will say, the thicker formula really helped me get more on the nail! It was a little gloopy, but yeah...

Pretty and Polished's Sand Art with Neon Green Base!

I love matte glitter. I really do! Well, I love ALL glitter, but we're only talking matte glitter for this post. I used Pretty & Polished's Sand Art in a previous post, but I wanted to give it a full manicure opportunity!
Not much else to say except I used 2 coats of Color Club Twiggie as the base and 2 coats of Sand Art! Summer fun manicure for sure!

Hope you enjoyed!

More Rainbow Honey Frenching!

Well, before I went wedding dress shopping the other day (for those who missed it IN MY LAST POST, my first time out wedding dress shopping was my last time! I got my dress on the first visit!) I wanted to have a light and fun manicure. I chose Rainbow Honey's Pinkie Promise and Elixir Lacquers' Bad Kitty.

Let me tell you, these polishes are meant for one another! I love how light and eye catching this one is! Before I show you, I just need to apologize for the tip wear in the pictures. I wasn't able to take a picture before this.

It's like I have jewels on my nail tips!!!

Lollia Imagine

Oh my goodness have I been busy this week! I've been working a a lot lately- which is great! I'm only per diem at my job and I rarely get enough hours to pay my bills. It's been such a stressor- especially with the wedding coming up. We're paying for it ourselves and I think that really helps to weed out the "fluff" of the wedding. What I mean, is that it helps us to focus on what's important and what we really don't need. In the end, it's not even a full day and I just can't justify spending too much on things- especially when we need to worry about finding a place to live and then furnishing said place, after the wedding. AND we need to be able to afford a honeymoon!!

Wow....got way off topic, but mostly I just wanted to share with you all that I got my wedding dress yesterday! It was my first time even going for dresses. I knew what details in a dress I wanted, and I knew how I wanted to feel in the dress. I'm an old soul...especially for a twenty-four year old. I have this love of Victorian era things and I knew I wanted lace on my dress and that it had to be a corset back.
So, I tried on a total of 10 dresses I think. #4 was THE dress! I think I knew it as soon as I saw it in the room waiting for me. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped for a split second and I just went "Ohhhh!". The lady helping me laughed lightly to herself and helped me into it.

You all, it was so pretty! It sparkled slightly in the light and was so pretty! As soon as I walked out everyone said that it was very "me" and the I wore the dress- it wasn't wearing me. In an upcoming post, I might reveal the dress to you so that you can help me decide on a manicure? Just a thought! Let me know please!

Right, so, after all that, can we please get to the subject of the post?

This is the .25 oz sized fragrance

Lollia Imagine is the last of my new Lollia fragrances. I kept it for last for a reason. It's just lovely!
The Lollia website describes Imagine as:

"A floral fragrance impression of the most beautiful day imaginable. Flowering Willow & Lotus float in, then flutter away leaving a trace of Orchid on their wings. Breezy Rice Flower and warm Coconut Milk mix with dew drop notes of Mandarin and Jasmine petals. Not a cloud in sight - a sun dappled sophisticated scent."

Oh my goodness, you guys! It smells even more beautiful than the description!

When I first applied the fragrance to my wrist, it smelled comfortable and mellow. The mellow was a floral- I can't be sure which- but it wasn't bright. It was languid almost! As it dried, I smelled the rice flower and coconut milk come through which provided a decidedly tropical feel. Not a hot and heavy tropical, but a breezy tropical. Again, as it dried more, I detected a "clean" scent.

Lollia Imagine is the PERFECT summer fragrance. It's light but warm at the same time.

Love this one!

Can be found HERE and HERE. As always, keep in mind that the Skincare by Alana site provides free shipping on all orders!

If any of you have decided to pick up a Lollia fragrance for yourself, please let me know which and what you think about it!

I have a Tokyo Milk fragrance coming in the next few days so stay tuned!
And please let me know about the dress and wedding manicures. What do you think?

Mint and Magic Manicure

I had such a hard time deciding on which of the Rainbow Honey polishes to use first!! I'm telling you- they are all beyond gorgeous and look even better than I thought they would! One way or another, I picked The Element of Magic- a lovely purple based polish with tons of gorgeous glitters packed on in there! There are even some holo specks!! I think that is exactly what gives this polish its "element of magic" <-- Eh? See what I did there?!

I wanted to try something a little different with this manicure. A variation of a funky french. I looked through my stash to find the perfect color to offset my new polish! I love the way purple and green look together, so I went with Ulta Mint Condition as my base color. I applied 2 coats. Next, I took The Element of Magic and began my work on the nail tips. I brought the polish down further on one side of the nail and left everything uneven, for a modified drippy nail. I went with 2 coats of The Element of Magic just to give it a deeper coverage.

Artificial Light

Direct Sunlight

Macro of goodness!!!

I'm super bummed that I'll have to take this off tomorrow. I worked today and my nails chipped so bad! Nothing to do with the polish- just me being careless!

I can't wait to try out the other colors! This one was amazing and I found myself staring wide eyed in awe as I applied it to the nail. Super easy application and my lamp was catching the glitter in such an amazing way. I feel these pictures don't even do the polish justice!

Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection

My Rainbow Honey pre-order came this past weekend!!
The lighting was horrible, and I forgot to take a picture of the full collection OUT of the boxes, but I still need to share this now!
I am BLOWN AWAY by the beauty of the packaging!!! Best I have ever seen!

Look at these awesome boxes!! These are the full Equestria Collection. All made and named after My Little Pony ponies!

Just trying to catch the little details! The boxes are sealed with cute silver hearts!!

I love how the names are on the tops of the bottles. This is going to make it so much easier to find the one I want to use when it's in storage!

For those that ordered the full collection, 2 mini secret polishes were added to the order!!! Rainbow Honey recently unveiled them on the Facebook page, so I'm safe in showing these!

I'll be showing one of the full sized polishes- The Element of Magic- in action in my next post.

Lollia Calm

Here is my second installment of my new fragrances!
When I saw this one initially, I knew I didn't even care how it smelled. I needed it because of the bottle. It has peacock feathers on it!! I've mentioned my love of peacock feathers in an earlier post, but I just need to reiterate it!

STUNNING!!

So, this perfume's description reads as follows:
"Serene meadows of blooming Hyacinth, earthen, rooted, Vetiver and fresh cut Iris. Cooled by setting Citrus sunlight and delicate floral waters."
Description found on this site.

I just love fragrance descriptions! They always sound beautiful! So, I have to admit that the mention of vetiver worried me a little. It's a scent that is normally found in blends that have a dark, earthen, scary vibe. Not at all the case here, my friends! True story, this one might be my new favorite scent ever and I'm just beyond surprised about it.

When I first applied a dab to my wrist, it smelled really bright and floraly- this scared me because I don't like pure floral. As it dried, I calmed down quite a bit because it smelled very similar to my fiancé after he showers and is all clean and fresh. It was lovely without being masculine though. It's dried an hour on my wrist as I type this and it still has that clean scent to it. It's really very lovely. It's floral without being too strong and I think the vetiver and citrus help to mellow out the brightness of the blossoms.

I love it! If you would like to purchase this scent, you can go to the Lollia site HERE. I also recommend checking out Skincare by Alana (discounts and free shipping!) HERE.

Lollia Relax

So today, I'm doing something non-polish related. Kind of weird...but I guess I never really committed to the idea of the blog being nothing but nails. The blog is more about showing things I like, things I enjoy, and truly just sharing with this lovely community!
Well,  I was recently in the market for new perfume. I happened upon this brand- Lollia, by complete chance. I was actually looking at this line's sister- Tokyo Milk, and decided to purchase a few from both lines.

I'm going to begin with Lollia as I purchased more of these than the Tokyo Milk. I'll explain why when I get to the Tokyo Milk post.

Lollia is a line of fragrances, lotions, candles, etc...that are created by Margot Elena. This line is literally the epitome of girly! Everything from the scents, to the packaging, to the descriptions scream feminine! And every once in a while, we all get that desire to indulge that side of us!

Since it's summer, I knew I wanted some lighter fragrances and it took me a bit to figure out which I would want to try! I ordered these online (details to follow at the end of the post!) and it was a huge leap of faith for me. I had no way of knowing if I'd like any of these, but the descriptions sounded amazing!

So, I chose 3 from the Lollia line. Instead of full sized bottles, they offer smaller decants for an even more affordable price! First up is Relax. And remember, the way the scent registers on me can be completely different than how it registers on you. Everyone's body chemistry is unique!

(See?! What did I tell you about the packaging?! And this is just the small version!)

Relax is described as:
"A rich exotic blend of fresh Lavender, Bee Blossom Honey, with White Orchids, and warm          woody undertones of Indian Amber delicately completed with a touch of Tahitian Vanilla"
(description taken from site HERE)

When sniffed from the bottle, I get a smooth base with a high floral note. It's comforting and awakening at the same time. On application, it smells bright with that smooth base again. It's like an easy Spring day. As it dries down, more of the warm tones come out and most of the floral steps back. As it begins to fade, I get a more grownup candied scent...not in a foody sense, but more of a mellow smoothness?

The scent doesn't seem to last long on me. It lingers around the skin and doesn't drift off- which for some occasions can be wonderful! I don't really detect the lavender or honey at all which is disappointing. The overall feel of this scent is lovely though. I don't get a "relaxed" vibe from it, so much as a comfortable feeling. It's nice and I know I'll use it. It's such a lovely, soft scent once it dries!

You can buy this directly from the Lollia site HERE. The large (3.4 oz) retails for $48, while the small (.25 oz) retails for $9.

However, in my online perusing, I happened upon this wonderful site HERE. Skincare by Alana carries tons of skincare items (obviously!) along with a few other things. Lollita is one of those other things!
At Skincare by Alana, you can purchase this perfume in it's full size (3.4 oz) for only $46, and the decant (.25 oz) for $18- but get this- the $18 includes TWO decants. In addition, Skincare by Alana offers FREE U.S. SHIPPING! No $ minimum! And that's not all!! She often offers discount codes on select brands! When I purchased my perfumes, there was a 15% off Lollia promo going on! So, I save on initial prices, got 15% off my items, AND free shipping! I love me a deal! Oh, and be sure to sign up for the Skincare by Alana email subscriptions. Tons of promos come through there too. And, you can follow her on Facebook.

Oh, and to finish off, if you're wondering on the general size of the decants, here's a picture to give you an idea. My hands are long, but I think you get the idea!

It's a decent size! And with the Skincare by Alana purchase, you get 2!

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for reviews of the other scents that I purchased!

All That Glitters- The Jean Genie

So, remember that giveaway I won back in March? (Click to see when I received the bottles)
Remember when I swatched half of my prize? (Click to see the swatches)
Well...I finally did #3 of the 4 polishes I received!
Today I have for you The Jean Genie by All That Glitters.
This glitter polish GLEAMS! It reminds me of ice. This polish is a silvery blue with oodles of glitter in it. It was easy to apply- no digging for glitter! I could have stopped at 2 coats, but it was still a little sheer for my taste.
This is 3 coats Jean Genie, 1 coat Gelous, and 1 coat Seche Vite.

Do you see how metalic/ shimmery this polish is!?

*Above picture is color enhanced so as to better view the glitter details*

ASBMF #14- Design of Your Choice- FUNKY FRENCH!

This is the last challenge! What?! I finished it!
I decided for this one I wanted to go out BIG! I feel like this one should show the transition of lovely spring, to sultry summer!
I started with 3 coats of Zoya Happi.

This is my first time using this color. What the heck took so long?! It's a gorgeous pink with glorious gold shimmer!! It's like spring and summer decided to have a baby!

I could have stopped here, but that wouldn't be awesome enough, would it? Of course not! I looked through my stamping plates and decided on BM-223. I stamped using Sinful Colors Black on Black. My nails are odd and the Bundle Monster plates aren't big or long enough for some of my nails so I decided to do a funky french to fill in the gap. I grabbed my So Easy Stripe Rite in this bright blue color and free handed the tips. Left hand looks awesome. Right hand (which I won't be showing) is a horror show...but that's alright.

The blue isn't this neon in life, but it's still really nice.

Love the way this came out!! Totally nothing I would normally do, but I'm absolutely doing it again!

Well, that's it! I can't wait for the summer challenge!

Hope you enjoyed,
